Full Denture, Acrylic Teeth (Upper or Lower)
Steps Involved in IVF:
Procedure Description
Full dentures with acrylic teeth (upper or lower) are a widely used solution for patients who have lost all their teeth in either the upper or lower arch. They are custom-made prosthetics that fit snugly over the gums, restoring the appearance and functionality of a full set of teeth. This procedure is essential for individuals experiencing tooth loss due to age, disease, or injury, as it not only improves chewing and speaking abilities but also enhances facial aesthetics.
Acrylic dentures are created using a pink, gum-colored acrylic base that holds artificial teeth. The acrylic teeth used in the process are durable, lightweight, and can be made to resemble natural teeth in color, size, and shape. The dentist takes precise measurements and impressions of the patient’s mouth to ensure a proper fit, comfort, and appearance.
The process begins with an initial consultation to assess the patient’s dental needs, followed by a series of appointments to take impressions, choose the shade of the acrylic teeth, and finally, ensure a proper fit. Modern technology, such as 3D imaging and advanced molding techniques, allows for greater precision in crafting dentures that feel comfortable and look natural. Patients who opt for full dentures with acrylic teeth can expect a solution that restores both functionality and aesthetics, enabling them to lead a normal life.
Procedure Duration
The process of obtaining full dentures with acrylic teeth typically involves multiple appointments and spans several weeks. Initially, a consultation is held to determine the patient’s suitability for dentures. If necessary, any remaining teeth that need extraction are removed first, and the gums are given time to heal before the dentures are fitted. In some cases, immediate dentures can be provided, though they may require adjustments after healing.
Once the healing period is complete, the dentist will take impressions of the gums. This is a critical phase of the procedure, as the accuracy of the impressions directly affects the fit of the final dentures. After this, wax models of the dentures are created to test the fit, bite alignment, and overall comfort. Adjustments are made based on the patient’s feedback during this phase.
Finally, once the wax model is approved, the full dentures are fabricated using high-quality acrylic materials. This step usually takes about one to two weeks. After the dentures are ready, the patient will attend a fitting appointment, where any necessary final adjustments are made to ensure optimal comfort and function. The recovery time is minimal, although patients may need some time to adjust to wearing the dentures and learning how to speak and eat with them.
Benefits
- Cost-effective solution: Acrylic dentures are generally more affordable compared to other materials like porcelain.
- Natural appearance: Acrylic teeth can be color-matched to look like natural teeth, providing a realistic aesthetic.
- Lightweight: Acrylic is lighter than other denture materials, making the dentures more comfortable to wear for extended periods.
- Easy to adjust: Adjustments to the fit or repairs to the dentures can be done easily and cost-effectively.
- Non-invasive procedure: Unlike dental implants, dentures do not require surgery, making them a less invasive option for tooth replacement.

- Need for regular adjustments: Over time, the shape of the gums and jaw may change, necessitating adjustments or replacements of the dentures to maintain comfort and function.
- Breakage or damage: Acrylic dentures are more prone to breakage or wear than other materials like porcelain, though they can be repaired relatively easily.
- Difficulty with certain foods: Full dentures may make it challenging to eat hard or sticky foods initially, and patients may need time to adjust their eating habits.
- Maintenance: Dentures require regular cleaning and care to prevent issues like gum irritation, bad breath, or infections.
How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital
When selecting a doctor and hospital for full dentures with acrylic teeth, it’s crucial to focus on several key factors to ensure a successful outcome. Firstly, the experience and expertise of the dentist are paramount. Look for dental professionals who specialize in prosthodontics or restorative dentistry, as they will have the necessary skills to craft and fit dentures accurately. Check for credentials, patient reviews, and before-and-after photos of previous denture cases to assess the quality of their work.
The facility should also be equipped with modern technology, such as digital imaging and 3D modeling, to enhance precision during the denture-making process. Additionally, consider the overall patient experience offered by the clinic or hospital, including aftercare services, follow-up appointments, and the ability to handle any necessary adjustments or repairs post-procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?
The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.
What happens during egg retrieval?
When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
What happens to the eggs?
In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle. Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.
How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?
The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.
Embryoscope©
Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
