Ultracavitacion

Steps Involved in IVF:

Procedure Description

Ultracavitacion, often called cavitation, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment aimed at reducing localized fat and contouring the body. It utilizes low-frequency ultrasound waves to create micro-bubbles in fat cells, which break down fat tissue without damaging the surrounding skin, muscles, or nerves. This process is particularly appealing for individuals looking to sculpt their bodies, eliminate small areas of fat, or target stubborn fat deposits that persist despite diet and exercise.

The technology behind Ultracavitacion relies on ultrasound energy. When applied to targeted fat cells, this energy causes the formation of tiny bubbles that create pressure, which disrupts the fat cells. Once disrupted, the fat cell contents, primarily fatty acids, are processed by the body and naturally eliminated. Ultracavitacion does not involve anesthesia, needles, or surgery, making it a convenient and accessible option for body contouring.

This procedure is most effective on small to medium fat deposits and is not intended for significant weight loss or obesity treatment. It is generally performed in areas such as the abdomen, thighs, arms, and buttocks. Because it is non-invasive, Ultracavitacion is gaining popularity among medical tourists seeking aesthetic improvements without the recovery time and risks associated with surgical options.

Procedure Duration

Ultracavitacion sessions are typically short, ranging from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size and number of target areas. A single area, like the abdomen or thighs, usually requires a brief session, making it possible for patients to fit the treatment into a busy schedule. Some patients opt to treat multiple areas in one visit, slightly extending the session’s length.

One of the unique aspects of Ultracavitacion is the need for multiple sessions to achieve optimal results. Most practitioners recommend a series of 6 to 12 sessions, spaced a week apart, to allow the body to process the treated fat cells and reveal the most pronounced effects. This phased approach is particularly beneficial for patients as it allows gradual improvements in body contouring without abrupt changes or extensive downtime.

Recovery from Ultracavitacion is minimal; most patients can resume their daily activities immediately. However, patients are often advised to follow specific guidelines, such as increasing water intake, engaging in moderate exercise, and adhering to a balanced diet to enhance the fat elimination process. While results can be seen as early as a few weeks into treatment, the final outcome may take up to three months to become fully visible, as the body continues to flush out fat cells.

Benefits

  • Non-invasive Treatment: Ultracavitacion is needle-free, requires no anesthesia, and has minimal discomfort, making it an attractive alternative to surgical fat reduction.
  • Quick Sessions: Each session lasts 30 to 60 minutes, allowing for efficient scheduling.
  • Minimal Downtime: Patients can resume daily activities immediately following the procedure, making it convenient for those with busy schedules.
  • Gradual, Natural-Looking Results: With multiple sessions, results appear gradually, allowing for a more natural transformation.
  • Improvement in Skin Tone: In some cases, Ultracavitacion can also help improve skin tone and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Risks & Considerations

  • Temporary Skin Redness or Swelling: Some patients may experience mild redness or swelling in the treated area, which typically subsides within a few hours.
  • Bruising or Minor Discomfort: Ultracavitacion can occasionally cause light bruising, especially in patients with sensitive skin.
  • Not a Solution for Major Weight Loss: Ultracavitacion is not intended for large-scale fat reduction and is best suited for targeting localized areas.
  • Results May Vary: The effectiveness of the treatment depends on factors such as body composition, metabolism, and adherence to post-procedure guidelines.
  • Requires Multiple Sessions: To achieve noticeable results, patients should be prepared to commit to several sessions, with time between treatments to maximize effects.

How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital

Selecting the right medical provider for Ultracavitacion requires careful consideration of experience, qualifications, and facility standards. Look for practitioners who specialize in body contouring or cosmetic ultrasound treatments, as they will have the expertise to deliver safe and effective results. Certifications from recognized cosmetic or aesthetic organizations are indicators of a provider’s commitment to high standards in non-surgical fat reduction techniques.

When choosing a facility, it’s essential to confirm that it adheres to international safety and hygiene protocols, especially for non-invasive procedures. Patients may consider arranging a consultation with the provider to discuss treatment plans, expected outcomes, and any questions they may have. Additionally, reputable clinics should offer post-treatment care instructions to support optimal results and minimize any potential side effects.

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?

The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.

What happens during egg retrieval?

When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment  where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

What happens to the eggs?

In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle.  Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.

How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?

The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.

Embryoscope©

Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
