Total Body Lift with Body Constouring
Steps Involved in IVF:
Procedure Description
A Total Body Lift with Body Contouring is a comprehensive surgical procedure designed to reshape and sculpt multiple areas of the body, often targeting those affected by significant weight loss, aging, or other factors that result in loose, sagging skin. The primary goal is to improve the body’s overall contour and provide a more toned appearance by removing excess skin, tightening underlying tissues, and, in some cases, reducing localized fat deposits. This surgery is often performed on patients who have experienced a substantial loss in body weight, particularly those who have undergone bariatric surgery or extensive lifestyle changes.
The procedure typically addresses various parts of the body such as the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, and breasts, in a single surgery. Since it involves multiple body areas, it can often be a combination of techniques like abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh lift, arm lift, and buttock lift. By addressing the overall silhouette, the total body lift aims to restore both function and appearance, allowing patients to achieve a more proportional and balanced body shape.
Body contouring procedures can be tailored to each individual's needs and body type. It’s common for plastic surgeons to develop a customized surgical plan that addresses specific areas of concern, taking into account factors such as skin quality, elasticity, and the amount of tissue needing removal or reshaping.
Procedure Duration
The duration of a Total Body Lift with Body Contouring can vary significantly depending on the extent of the procedure and the number of areas being treated. On average, the surgery can take between 6 to 8 hours, but it may extend longer if several complex areas are addressed simultaneously. It's often performed under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgical center, ensuring that patients are completely comfortable and pain-free during the process.
The procedure is typically divided into phases based on the areas of focus. The first phase may involve contouring the lower body, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and thighs. Subsequent phases could address the upper body, such as the arms, chest, and back. Some surgeons may recommend a staged approach, performing the total body lift in separate sessions to minimize surgical risks and improve recovery outcomes.
Recovery Time after the procedure is substantial, given the extensive nature of the surgery. Patients should expect an initial recovery period of 2 to 3 weeks, during which they may need assistance with daily activities and careful management of incisions. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are common but usually diminish within the first few weeks. A full recovery, including a return to more vigorous activities and complete healing, may take anywhere from 6 to 12 months, depending on the individual’s overall health, the number of areas treated, and adherence to postoperative care instructions.

Risks & Considerations
- Scarring: Given the extensive nature of a total body lift, patients should expect visible scarring. While surgeons aim to place incisions in discreet locations, some scarring may be noticeable even after full healing.
- Infection & Complications: Like any surgery, there is a risk of infection, bleeding, and other complications. Proper preoperative preparation and postoperative care are essential to minimize these risks.
- Prolonged Recovery: The recovery period for a total body lift is longer compared to other cosmetic procedures. Patients must be prepared for the downtime, limited mobility, and potential discomfort during the healing phase.
- Changes in Sensation: There may be temporary or permanent changes in skin sensation around the areas where the surgery was performed due to nerve damage during the procedure.
- Potential Need for Revisions: In some cases, patients may require additional surgeries to achieve their desired outcome or address complications, such as asymmetry or excess skin that persists postoperatively.
How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital
When choosing a surgeon and hospital for a Total Body Lift with Body Contouring, it's critical to prioritize qualifications and experience. Look for a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in body contouring and has a proven track record in total body lifts. Request to see before-and-after photos of previous patients to assess their work and ensure it aligns with your aesthetic goals. Patient reviews and testimonials can also provide insight into the surgeon's expertise and bedside manner.
Select a hospital or clinic that maintains international accreditation and adheres to high standards of patient care, safety, and hygiene. A reputable facility should offer a supportive team, transparent communication regarding costs and procedures, and comprehensive aftercare services to facilitate a smooth recovery. Always schedule a detailed consultation to discuss your goals, expectations, and any concerns with the surgeon before making a decision.

Frequently Asked Questions
What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?
The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.
What happens during egg retrieval?
When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
What happens to the eggs?
In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle. Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.
How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?
The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.
Embryoscope©
Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
