Mesotherapy
Steps Involved in IVF:
Procedure Description
Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment designed to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin, targeting concerns such as fine lines, cellulite, and even hair loss. Originating in France, this procedure involves injecting a mixture of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and plant extracts directly into the skin’s mesoderm layer. The customized blend is selected based on the patient’s specific needs, allowing for targeted and personalized care. The goal of mesotherapy is to improve the skin’s overall appearance and address localized problem areas by nourishing and stimulating skin tissue at a cellular level.
The injection process typically utilizes very fine needles to deliver multiple micro-injections directly to the targeted area. While the number of injections can vary depending on the treatment area and the patient’s desired outcome, mesotherapy offers a non-surgical approach that encourages natural collagen production. This, in turn, promotes a healthier, more radiant complexion with smoother, more even skin.
Mesotherapy is versatile, often used to treat various cosmetic issues. Patients may choose this procedure for its skin-rejuvenating effects, but it’s also known to be effective for body contouring, localized fat reduction, and hair loss treatment. Because it can be tailored to individual goals, mesotherapy has become a popular choice among those seeking a less invasive option for cosmetic enhancement.
Procedure Duration
Mesotherapy sessions generally take between 20 to 30 minutes, though the exact time can vary based on the size of the treated area and the patient’s goals. In a typical session, the patient is prepped, and the targeted area is cleansed. An anesthetic cream may be applied to minimize discomfort, especially if sensitive areas are being treated. Following this, the injections are administered using a fine needle or a specialized mesotherapy device, allowing the nutrients to be absorbed directly into the skin.
The number of sessions required depends on the treatment goals. For facial rejuvenation, patients may undergo a series of 3 to 6 sessions spaced a week or two apart. For body contouring or fat reduction, additional sessions may be necessary to achieve optimal results. After the initial treatment series, some patients choose to maintain their results with follow-up sessions every few months.
Recovery time for mesotherapy is generally minimal, as the procedure is non-invasive. While patients may experience some mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, these effects typically subside within a few days. Most individuals can resume normal activities immediately, though it’s advised to avoid intense physical activity and prolonged sun exposure shortly after the treatment.

Risks & Considerations
- Allergic Reactions: Patients may have allergic responses to the substances injected. It’s essential to discuss potential allergies with the practitioner beforehand.
- Infection at Injection Sites: Any procedure involving injections poses a risk of infection. Ensuring sterile techniques are followed can minimize this risk.
- Bruising and Swelling: These are common side effects but typically resolve within a few days. Patients should avoid blood-thinning medications before the procedure to reduce bruising.
- Uneven Results: While rare, there’s a chance that the treatment might not produce uniform results, especially in larger areas. Multiple sessions can help achieve a balanced outcome.
- Need for Multiple Sessions: Mesotherapy often requires several sessions to see noticeable results. Patients should be prepared for a commitment to the treatment plan for optimal outcomes.
How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital
Selecting a qualified practitioner for mesotherapy is crucial for achieving safe and satisfying results. Start by researching professionals with specialized training in cosmetic injections and mesotherapy. Look for certifications and experience in aesthetic medicine, and review patient testimonials to gain insights into the quality of care.
Equally important is the choice of a clinic or hospital with stringent hygiene practices and modern facilities. Seek facilities that are accredited and prioritize patient safety protocols, ensuring that the environment supports the best possible outcome for your treatment. By verifying qualifications and clinic standards, you can feel more confident in your choice of mesotherapy provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?
The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.
What happens during egg retrieval?
When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
What happens to the eggs?
In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle. Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.
How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?
The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.
Embryoscope©
Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
