Kozyavkin Method
Steps Involved in IVF:
Procedure Description
The Kozyavkin Method, also known as the Intensive Neurophysiological Rehabilitation System (INRS), is a multifaceted and holistic approach to neurological rehabilitation, primarily aimed at treating children and adults with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders. It was developed to enhance patients' motor function, reduce spasticity, and improve their overall quality of life. Unlike traditional rehabilitation methods, the Kozyavkin Method integrates a variety of techniques, creating a comprehensive treatment program that targets the root causes of impaired movement and neurological function.
At its core, the Kozyavkin Method combines physical therapy, manual therapy, reflexotherapy, and bio-mechanical correction techniques. It adopts a multidisciplinary approach, blending these techniques to ensure that each patient receives a tailored program based on their unique needs and capabilities. The primary goal is to enhance neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to reorganize itself and form new neural connections. By stimulating neuroplasticity, the method aims to improve muscle tone, joint mobility, coordination, and general motor function.
The treatment protocol involves a variety of therapies and exercises. These can include massage, mobilization of the spine and joints, physical exercises, and sensory integration activities. This holistic approach not only targets the physical aspects of neurological disorders but also emphasizes cognitive, emotional, and social development. With its proven results over several decades, the Kozyavkin Method is regarded as one of the more effective and innovative approaches in neurological rehabilitation, especially for individuals with complex movement disorders.
Procedure Duration
The Kozyavkin Method is generally delivered in intensive phases that require the patient to undergo a structured program for a fixed duration. A typical treatment session lasts around 2 weeks, during which the patient receives daily therapies that vary in intensity and type. The sessions often last several hours each day, where different techniques are applied in a well-coordinated sequence to maximize the benefits of neuroplasticity and to target various facets of the patient's condition.
The phases of treatment are carefully structured, ensuring a balance between intensive therapy and recovery. During the initial days of treatment, the focus is on diagnosing the patient's condition thoroughly and tailoring the rehabilitation program accordingly. As the sessions progress, different therapies are introduced, such as spinal mobilization, massage, and physical exercises. Toward the end of the treatment phase, the program shifts towards consolidating the improvements gained during therapy and providing guidance for home exercises.
Recovery time and the continuation of treatment post-discharge play a crucial role in the Kozyavkin Method. Patients are typically advised to continue practicing specific exercises and activities at home to sustain the benefits achieved during the intensive phase. Although significant improvements can often be seen during the two-week program, ongoing exercises and possible follow-up sessions are recommended to maintain and further improve the results.

Risks & Considerations
- Initial Discomfort: Patients may experience discomfort or muscle soreness at the start of the intensive therapy, as the body adjusts to new movements and techniques.
- Emotional and Psychological Impact: The intensity of the therapy and adjustments required in lifestyle may pose an emotional challenge, particularly for young patients or those unaccustomed to structured rehabilitation.
- Temporary Fatigue: Due to the rigorous nature of daily sessions, patients might experience fatigue during or after the treatment period, requiring adequate rest and recovery.
- Variable Outcomes: While many patients show significant improvement, results can vary based on factors like age, the severity of the condition, and the patient’s responsiveness to the therapy.
- Requirement for Follow-up: The Kozyavkin Method is often an ongoing process, requiring follow-up sessions and home exercises to maintain and enhance the benefits, which can be challenging for some families to sustain over time.
How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital
When seeking treatment with the Kozyavkin Method, it is crucial to select a qualified rehabilitation center and experienced therapists who are well-versed in this approach. Look for clinics that are internationally accredited and have a dedicated team of specialists, including physiotherapists, neurologists, and occupational therapists. Additionally, it is advisable to review patient testimonials and case studies to understand the facility’s track record in successfully treating patients with neurological conditions.
A thorough consultation process is essential before committing to the treatment. During the consultation, ensure that the medical team conducts a comprehensive assessment of the patient's condition and provides a clear outline of the proposed rehabilitation plan. Transparent communication, clarity regarding expected outcomes, and a tailored approach to the patient’s unique needs are key indicators of a reputable and reliable provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?
The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.
What happens during egg retrieval?
When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
What happens to the eggs?
In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle. Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.
How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?
The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.
Embryoscope©
Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
