Implant Prosthesis for Temples

Steps Involved in IVF:

Procedure Description

Temple implant prostheses are cosmetic implants designed to add volume and contour to the temple area, enhancing facial symmetry and addressing issues such as hollow temples, a common concern that arises due to age-related fat loss or genetic predisposition. Hollow temples can create a gaunt, tired appearance, impacting facial harmony. Implanting prostheses in this area adds subtle volume, smooths contours, and creates a youthful, balanced look.

The procedure typically involves placing silicone or other biocompatible materials to fill in sunken areas of the temple. The surgeon makes a small incision either within the hairline or along a natural crease near the temples to insert the implant. The implant is shaped to fit the unique contours of the patient’s face, achieving a natural and aesthetically pleasing result. A customized approach ensures the implant sits comfortably, blending seamlessly with the facial structure.

One of the primary goals of temple implant prostheses is to rejuvenate the upper face. This treatment can be beneficial for those who have experienced age-related volume loss or individuals with a genetic predisposition to thinner temples. Unlike fillers, which are temporary and may require frequent touch-ups, implants provide a long-lasting solution, offering durability and consistency in aesthetic outcomes.

Procedure Duration

The procedure duration for a temple implant prosthesis varies depending on the complexity and the specific goals of the treatment. Generally, the surgical process lasts about 1 to 2 hours. During this time, the surgeon will carefully prepare the area, make a minimal incision for the implant, and insert the prosthesis with precision. Many patients opt for local anesthesia with sedation, though some may choose general anesthesia based on their comfort level and the surgeon’s recommendation.

Following the surgery, patients typically spend some time in a recovery area for monitoring. Immediate post-surgical care involves managing minor swelling and discomfort in the temple area, which generally subsides within a few days. Most patients can resume light activities within a week, although full recovery may take several weeks. This period allows for natural settling of the implant and tissue healing, ensuring optimal aesthetic results.

In terms of phases, the procedure includes preoperative planning (to select the right implant size and shape), the surgery itself, and postoperative care. Each phase is critical for a successful outcome. Postoperative appointments are usually scheduled within a week to assess healing, with further follow-ups over a few months to ensure the implant is correctly integrated and that there are no complications.

Benefits

  • Long-Lasting Results: Unlike fillers, implants offer a durable solution for temple hollowing, requiring no regular maintenance.
  • Enhanced Facial Symmetry: The implants restore volume to the temple area, creating a balanced and harmonious facial appearance.
  • Minimal Scarring: Incisions are placed discreetly, typically within the hairline or natural creases, leading to inconspicuous scarring.
  • Quick Recovery: The relatively short recovery time enables patients to return to regular activities within a week.
  • Boosted Confidence: By rejuvenating the face, patients often experience improved self-esteem and satisfaction with their appearance.

Potential Destinations

Risks & Considerations

  • Infection: As with any surgical procedure, there is a risk of infection. Patients must follow post-surgical care guidelines meticulously to prevent this.
  • Implant Displacement: In rare cases, the implant may shift from its original placement. Ensuring a qualified and experienced surgeon can help minimize this risk.
  • Scarring: While incisions are small and strategically placed, there is a chance of visible scarring, particularly in individuals prone to keloid formation.
  • Allergic Reaction: Although rare, some patients may experience a reaction to anesthesia or implant material. It’s essential to discuss any known allergies with the medical team beforehand.
  • Asymmetry or Dissatisfaction: Cosmetic outcomes may vary, and some patients may find the result differs slightly from their expectations. Surgeons often use digital imaging in consultations to align with patient goals.

How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital

Selecting a highly qualified surgeon and reputable hospital is crucial for a safe and successful outcome. Start by researching board-certified surgeons with specialized experience in facial implants and cosmetic procedures. Verify their credentials, view before-and-after photos of previous temple implant patients, and read patient testimonials. A thorough consultation where the surgeon addresses all questions and concerns is also essential.

When choosing a hospital or clinic, prioritize facilities with international accreditation or those recognized for their adherence to safety and quality standards. A hospital with an established track record in medical tourism is advantageous, as these facilities typically offer additional support for international patients, including language assistance and post-operative care planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?

The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.

What happens during egg retrieval?

When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment  where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

What happens to the eggs?

In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle.  Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.

How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?

The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.

Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
