Executive Check Up (Male)

Steps Involved in IVF:

Procedure Description

A male executive check-up is a specialized health assessment designed to evaluate overall well-being, detect early signs of health issues, and monitor key health indicators in professional men. The package typically includes a broad array of tests tailored to the unique risks and needs of male executives who may experience elevated stress levels, long working hours, and other lifestyle factors that affect health. By offering a holistic evaluation, an executive check-up can help detect issues early, allowing for preventive measures to improve health outcomes.

Typically, an executive check-up combines multiple assessments across cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems. Routine components include blood tests, imaging (like ultrasound and MRI), ECG, and sometimes advanced screenings, such as genetic testing or cancer markers. Health professionals will gather information on family history, lifestyle, and habits to personalize the check-up further, tailoring tests to detect the conditions most relevant to each patient’s unique risk profile.

The scope of a male executive check-up varies by provider, but the goal remains the same: delivering a snapshot of a patient's current health status. Following the examination, patients receive a detailed report highlighting areas of concern, recommendations for lifestyle adjustments, and further testing or follow-ups if necessary. This comprehensive approach supports both immediate and long-term health, empowering executives to make proactive health decisions.

Procedure Duration

The duration of an executive check-up depends on the specific tests included and the facility's protocols. Generally, the process can range from a few hours to a full day. Initially, patients may have a brief consultation to review their medical history and health concerns, allowing the healthcare provider to refine the check-up plan. This is typically followed by a series of tests that are scheduled back-to-back to streamline the process. In many facilities, patients can complete the physical examination, laboratory work, and imaging tests within a single day.

The assessment may take longer if advanced tests, such as stress echocardiograms or specialized imaging, are involved. Some providers may recommend additional testing, which could extend the check-up over multiple days. Patients who need a comprehensive set of screenings may be advised to stay at a nearby accommodation if an overnight stay is required, which is sometimes arranged by the facility.

After all tests are completed, the results are usually reviewed by a medical team, and a follow-up consultation is scheduled to go over the findings. This stage allows the doctor to discuss any detected abnormalities, answer questions, and provide recommendations for further action or lifestyle modifications. With advanced healthcare facilities, the entire process—from initial check-in to receiving final results—can often be accomplished within one to two days, making it convenient for busy executives.

  • Radiation Exposure: Some imaging tests, such as CT scans, expose patients to low levels of radiation, which may pose risks if conducted frequently.
  • Invasive Procedures: While rare, certain check-ups may involve invasive procedures, which come with risks such as infection or adverse reactions to anesthesia.
  • Uncovering Incidental Findings: Executive check-ups sometimes detect unrelated anomalies that require additional investigation, leading to further time and financial investments.
  • Health Privacy Concerns: The extensive data collected during these check-ups must be securely managed to ensure patient privacy. Selecting a reputable provider is essential to safeguard personal health information.

How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital

When selecting a doctor and hospital for an executive check-up, it’s essential to look for accredited healthcare providers with a strong reputation for quality care. Researching facilities with international accreditation and positive reviews can provide confidence in the hospital's reliability. Ensuring the facility is equipped with modern diagnostic technology and staffed by experienced healthcare professionals is also crucial.

For patients traveling internationally, it may be beneficial to select a facility that provides services tailored to medical tourists, such as multilingual staff, concierge services, and patient coordinators. Such services make the process smoother, especially for those coming from non-English-speaking countries. Lastly, it’s advisable to inquire about the specific tests included in the package, confirm if any additional costs are associated, and verify that results are delivered in a timely manner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?

The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.

What happens during egg retrieval?

When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment  where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

What happens to the eggs?

In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle.  Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.

How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?

The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.

Embryoscope©

Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
