Executive Check Up (Female - Below the Age of 30)

Steps Involved in IVF:

Procedure Description

An Executive Check-Up is a comprehensive health screening program aimed at assessing the overall well-being of young women, specifically those below the age of 30. Unlike routine medical check-ups, an executive check-up includes a series of advanced diagnostics and evaluations designed to uncover potential health risks early on. The goal is to prevent the development of serious conditions by promoting awareness of one’s health status and identifying any underlying issues before they manifest as symptoms. This proactive approach makes the executive check-up a valuable tool for health-conscious individuals seeking preventive care.

The check-up typically includes a range of tests and evaluations, such as blood work, imaging, cardiovascular assessments, and physical exams. For women under 30, the focus is on screening for conditions relevant to younger adults, including hormone health, reproductive wellness, nutrition, metabolic functions, and lifestyle factors that impact long-term health. For instance, hormone tests can reveal information about thyroid function and reproductive health, while metabolic screenings can detect early signs of conditions like insulin resistance or vitamin deficiencies.

Executive check-ups are usually customized based on individual health profiles and family histories, ensuring that each assessment is tailored to meet specific needs. By gaining insights into potential genetic risks or lifestyle-related concerns, patients can take preventive action and make informed decisions regarding diet, exercise, and general wellness. This comprehensive check-up ultimately empowers individuals to maintain a healthy lifestyle and take charge of their health from a young age, reducing the likelihood of developing chronic conditions in the future.

Procedure Duration

The duration of an executive check-up for females under 30 can vary depending on the range of tests included in the program. Typically, the check-up can take between half a day and a full day. The check-up begins with an initial consultation with a healthcare provider, where the patient’s medical history, lifestyle, and specific health concerns are discussed. This consultation allows the medical team to identify the most relevant tests and tailor the program to meet the patient's unique needs.

After the consultation, patients usually proceed with a series of lab tests, which may include blood tests, urinalysis, and hormonal profiling. These tests provide crucial insights into the patient’s metabolic, hormonal, and nutritional health. Depending on the facility, results may be available the same day or within a few days, allowing doctors to quickly interpret findings and offer recommendations. Imaging procedures, such as ultrasound or X-ray, are often scheduled the same day if required.

Upon completion of all tests, a follow-up consultation is conducted to review the results in detail. In this session, doctors provide insights into any abnormalities or potential health concerns and recommend lifestyle changes or treatments if needed. Patients are also encouraged to ask questions and discuss their health goals. If necessary, referrals for additional care are provided. Recovery from these non-invasive assessments is immediate, as no downtime is required, allowing patients to resume regular activities following their appointments.

Risks & Considerations

  • Overdiagnosis: Extensive screening may lead to detection of conditions that may not have immediate health impacts, potentially causing unnecessary worry or intervention.
  • Cost Variability: Executive check-ups can vary significantly in cost, especially when international travel and accommodation are factored in, so budgeting is essential.
  • False Positives or Negatives: As with any medical test, there is a chance of receiving inaccurate results, which can either cause unwarranted concern or overlook an existing condition.
  • Radiation Exposure: Some imaging tests may expose patients to small amounts of radiation, though minimal, this exposure could accumulate if check-ups are done frequently.
  • Cultural and Language Barriers: Visiting a foreign country for medical care may present challenges in communication and understanding cultural practices, making it vital to choose providers with multilingual staff.

How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital

When selecting a doctor or hospital for an executive check-up, research is essential. Look for facilities that have internationally recognized accreditations, as these indicate adherence to high standards of patient care and safety. It’s advisable to review the hospital’s services online, including patient reviews and treatment options, to understand their reputation and level of service. This can provide insight into how well-equipped the facility is to handle your specific health needs.

Additionally, selecting a provider with experience in treating international patients can greatly enhance the quality of the experience. Hospitals with a dedicated international patient department are often more prepared to address the logistical and cultural needs of foreign patients, ensuring a smoother process from arrival to post-care follow-up. In any case, it’s crucial to consult with your primary care provider to understand which tests and services are most appropriate for your needs, allowing you to make the best decision for your health.

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?

The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.

What happens during egg retrieval?

When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment  where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

What happens to the eggs?

In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle.  Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.

How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?

The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.

Embryoscope©

Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
