Economical Checkup

Steps Involved in IVF:

Procedure Description

Economical checkups are essential preventive health measures designed to identify potential health risks early and monitor existing conditions. These checkups provide individuals with a cost-effective way to receive a comprehensive health assessment that covers various bodily systems. Economical checkups generally include essential evaluations like blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and other crucial indicators for common conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers.

Most economical checkup packages are built to cover primary diagnostics without the need for specialized or highly invasive testing, keeping the focus on affordability and broad accessibility. The core procedures typically involve basic blood work, urine analysis, body mass index (BMI) calculation, heart and lung health assessments, and basic imaging scans like X-rays or ultrasounds, as necessary. While some checkups are conducted at a single facility, others may offer the option of telehealth consultations for pre- and post-checkup reviews, which can be especially convenient for patients traveling from a distance.

An economical checkup can vary in scope depending on the individual’s age, medical history, lifestyle, and risk factors. For instance, a younger person with no pre-existing conditions may undergo a streamlined version, while older individuals or those with family health risks may require a more extensive package. Each checkup package is tailored to provide a snapshot of overall health at an affordable cost, making it an excellent option for medical tourists or anyone seeking an affordable health assessment.

Procedure Duration

The duration of an economical checkup varies depending on the type of assessments included and the specific facility. Typically, the basic tests and evaluations take about 1 to 2 hours. More comprehensive packages that include imaging or extended cardiovascular evaluations may require half a day or longer. The goal is to deliver a thorough health overview in the shortest time possible while ensuring high standards of accuracy and safety.

Once the checkup is completed, results may take anywhere from a few hours to several days to be fully processed, depending on the diagnostic facilities available and the complexity of the tests conducted. In many cases, facilities provide same-day results for common tests, such as basic blood work or X-rays, allowing patients to get a prompt overview of their health status. Follow-up consultations can often be arranged shortly after the results are available, with some providers offering virtual consultations to discuss findings in detail.

For international patients traveling for the purpose of a checkup, it’s essential to consider the potential need for additional time if any follow-up evaluations or consultations are recommended. Many clinics offering economical checkups have streamlined services to accommodate medical tourists, allowing them to complete the checkup and receive results within a couple of days. This setup enables individuals to optimize their travel schedule while still getting a complete health assessment.

How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital

When selecting a facility for an economical checkup, consider both the qualifications of the medical professionals and the quality of the hospital or clinic. It’s advisable to look for institutions with international accreditation or certifications that meet global healthcare standards. In addition, reading reviews from other international patients can offer insights into the facility’s quality of care, communication skills, and the overall patient experience.

Seek recommendations from reliable sources and verify that the hospital has the necessary diagnostic equipment for a thorough health checkup. Additionally, ensure that any follow-up care or consultations, if necessary, can be conducted virtually if you are returning home. This arrangement can save both time and money while keeping you connected with the same provider for continuity in care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?

The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.

What happens during egg retrieval?

When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment  where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

What happens to the eggs?

In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle.  Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.

How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?

The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.

Embryoscope©

Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
