Cavitation

Steps Involved in IVF:

Procedure Description

Cavitation, also known as ultrasonic cavitation, is a popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure designed to reduce localized fat and improve body contours. This process utilizes low-frequency ultrasound waves to target and break down fat cells in specific areas of the body. Cavitation has gained widespread recognition as a safe, effective, and painless alternative to traditional liposuction, appealing to individuals looking for a minimally invasive approach to body shaping. During a cavitation session, ultrasonic waves penetrate the targeted fat layer beneath the skin. These waves create micro-bubbles within fat cells, causing the cell walls to break down. Once the fat cells collapse, their contents are released and processed naturally by the body's lymphatic system. Over time, these liquefied fat contents are expelled through metabolic processes, resulting in reduced fat deposits and an improved body shape.

The process is versatile, allowing patients to target stubborn fat areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, and arms. Unlike surgical options, cavitation does not require incisions or anesthesia, making it an attractive choice for those who prefer a less invasive method. Additionally, because it is a non-invasive procedure, patients experience minimal discomfort during treatment, and downtime is typically short, allowing for a faster return to daily activities. Cavitation treatments are typically administered in a clinic or aesthetic facility by trained professionals using specialized ultrasound equipment. Each session takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Multiple sessions are usually recommended for optimal results, with most patients requiring 6-12 sessions spaced one to two weeks apart.

Procedure Duration

The duration of a cavitation procedure varies depending on the area being treated and the number of sessions required to achieve the desired results. Each session usually lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, making it a convenient option for patients with busy schedules. The relatively short duration of each treatment allows patients to undergo cavitation during lunch breaks or after work without significant disruption to their routines. Because cavitation is non-surgical, there is minimal recovery time. Patients may experience slight redness, mild bruising, or sensitivity in the treated area, but these side effects typically resolve within a few hours to a few days. There is no need for prolonged rest or recovery, and most people can return to their normal activities immediately following the treatment.

However, optimal results require consistency and patience. To achieve the best outcome, patients are advised to undergo a series of treatments over several weeks. The number of sessions depends on the individual’s goals, body composition, and lifestyle factors. Generally, professionals recommend at least 6-12 sessions, each spaced one to two weeks apart. After completing the series, patients may see gradual changes in body contour and a reduction in fat deposits over several weeks to months as the body processes and expels the liquefied fat cells.

Benefits

  • Non-invasive and painless: Cavitation offers a comfortable and non-surgical alternative to traditional liposuction, with no need for anesthesia or recovery time.
  • Quick sessions: Each treatment takes only 30 to 60 minutes, making it easy to incorporate into a busy schedule.
  • Targeted fat reduction: Cavitation can be used to address specific areas of the body where stubborn fat persists, such as the abdomen, thighs, and arms.
  • Natural results: The body naturally processes and expels the broken-down fat cells over time, leading to gradual and realistic body contouring results.
  • Improves skin texture: In addition to fat reduction, cavitation can promote better skin elasticity, resulting in smoother, firmer skin in the treated area.

Potential Destinations

  • Thailand: With a well-established medical tourism industry, Thailand offers advanced cavitation procedures in cities like Bangkok and Phuket. Patients benefit from a combination of quality care and a relaxing environment to complement their recovery.
  • India: India's medical tourism sector is renowned for both affordability and quality. Many clinics in cities like Mumbai and Delhi offer cavitation services at competitive rates, making India an attractive option for international patients seeking cost-effective body contouring.
  • United Arab Emirates: Dubai, in particular, is known for its luxury healthcare services, and several high-end clinics provide advanced cavitation treatments for international clients. The UAE combines high medical standards with an attractive tourist environment, ideal for patients seeking a premium experience.

Risks & Considerations

  • Mild discomfort: Some patients experience slight discomfort, such as warmth or tingling, during the procedure. However, this sensation is generally mild and temporary.
  • Skin irritation: Redness, sensitivity, or mild bruising may occur in the treated area, especially after the initial sessions. This irritation usually subsides within a few days.
  • Inconsistent results: As cavitation relies on individual metabolic processes, results may vary based on factors like age, lifestyle, and body type. Consistency with sessions and healthy habits can enhance results.
  • Not suitable for all body types: Cavitation may not be as effective for individuals with larger or generalized obesity. It is most effective for reducing localized fat deposits and may not yield dramatic results for overall weight loss.
  • Potential lymphatic load: Since cavitation works by breaking down fat cells, it can increase the body's lymphatic load. Drinking water and staying active post-treatment can support the lymphatic system in flushing out the liquefied fat.

How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital

When choosing a provider for cavitation, prioritize licensed professionals who specialize in body contouring and non-invasive treatments. Look for clinics or facilities that use certified ultrasound cavitation equipment, as this ensures adherence to safety standards and effective results. Researching online reviews and testimonials from previous patients can also provide insights into a clinic’s reliability and the quality of its services.

For international patients, selecting a destination with a strong reputation in medical tourism is beneficial. Some clinics offer packages that include accommodations, transportation, and consultations, allowing patients to manage logistics more easily. Ensure that any chosen provider maintains transparent communication, offers consultations to assess individual needs, and has a clear approach to post-treatment care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?

The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.

What happens during egg retrieval?

When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment  where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

What happens to the eggs?

In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle.  Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.

How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?

The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.

Embryoscope©

Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
