Anti-Aging
Steps Involved in IVF:
Procedure Description
Anti-aging procedures encompass a variety of medical and aesthetic treatments aimed at slowing down or reversing the visible effects of aging on the body and skin. These procedures range from minimally invasive techniques, like injectables and laser treatments, to surgical interventions, such as facelifts and body contouring. Each option targets specific concerns, such as wrinkles, sagging skin, loss of volume, and age spots, helping individuals restore a youthful appearance.
Injectables, like botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox) and dermal fillers, are widely recognized as effective anti-aging solutions. Botulinum toxin works by relaxing facial muscles that cause wrinkles, while fillers replenish lost volume in areas like cheeks, lips, and under the eyes. Another popular approach is the use of lasers and radiofrequency treatments to tighten the skin, reduce fine lines, and improve texture. These non-invasive treatments encourage collagen production, providing a natural lift over time.
For those seeking more permanent results, surgical procedures like facelifts, neck lifts, and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) can significantly enhance one’s appearance. These surgeries involve removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, tightening muscles, and rejuvenating the overall facial structure. The techniques and technologies employed in anti-aging procedures continue to advance, offering more options with faster recovery and lasting results.
Procedure Duration
The duration of anti-aging procedures varies depending on the treatment chosen. Minimally invasive treatments, such as Botox or dermal fillers, are often termed "lunchtime procedures" because they typically take 15-30 minutes, with almost immediate results and little to no downtime. Patients may notice minor redness or swelling, which generally subsides within a few hours to days.
More intensive treatments like laser therapy or radiofrequency skin tightening can take around 30-60 minutes per session, depending on the targeted area. Multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results, usually spaced a few weeks apart. Recovery from these treatments is usually minimal, with patients experiencing mild redness or sensitivity for a short period.
Surgical procedures like facelifts or neck lifts have longer durations, typically lasting 3-5 hours, and are often performed under general anesthesia. The recovery period for such surgeries is more extended, generally ranging from 2 to 4 weeks. While initial results are visible after the swelling subsides, full recovery may take several months as the body continues to heal and adjust to the changes.

Risks & Considerations
- Infection and Scarring:
Surgical procedures carry the risk of infections, scarring, and complications related to anesthesia. It's essential to choose a certified and experienced surgeon to minimize these risks.
- Allergic Reactions:
Injectable treatments like fillers can cause allergic reactions or adverse responses in some patients, including swelling, redness, or nodules under the skin.
- Unrealistic Expectations:
Understanding what the procedure can achieve is crucial. Some treatments offer subtle changes, and having unrealistic expectations can lead to dissatisfaction with the outcome.
- Downtime and Recovery:
Surgical procedures require a longer recovery period, and patients must plan for time off work and social activities. Even non-invasive treatments may involve mild downtime.
- Repeated Treatments for Maintenance:
Non-surgical treatments, such as Botox or fillers, often require repeated sessions to maintain the results, which can lead to accumulating costs and the need for regular upkeep.
How to Choose the Right Doctor and Hospital
Selecting the right doctor and hospital is vital for a successful anti-aging procedure. When choosing a provider, look for board-certified professionals with extensive experience in cosmetic and anti-aging treatments. Research their training, credentials, and track record to ensure they are equipped to deliver the desired results. Personal referrals, patient testimonials, and before-and-after photos of previous clients can provide additional insight into their expertise.
It's also crucial to select a facility accredited by recognized international healthcare standards, equipped with modern technologies and a strong emphasis on patient safety. Consultation appointments should allow ample time to discuss your goals, understand the risks and benefits of the procedure, and ensure you feel comfortable and well-informed about the treatment plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
What actually happens during hyperstimulation of the ovaries?
The patient will take injectable FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) for eight to eleven days, depending on how long the follicles take to mature. This hormone is produced naturally in a woman’s body causing one egg to develop per cycle. Taking the injectable FSH causes several follicles to develop at once, at approximately the same rate. The development is monitored with vaginal ultrasounds and following the patient’s levels of estradiol and progesterone. FSH brand names include Repronex, Follistim, Menopur, Gonal-F and Bravelle. The patient injects herself daily.
What happens during egg retrieval?
When the follicles have developed enough to be harvested, the patient attends an appointment where she is anesthetized and prepared for the procedure. Next, the doctor uses an ultrasound probe to guide a needle through the vaginal wall and into the follicle of the ovary. The thin needle draws the follicle fluid, which is then examined by an embryologist to find the eggs. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.
What happens to the eggs?
In the next step, the harvested eggs are then fertilized. If the sperm from the potential father, or in some cases, anonymous donor, has normal functionality, the eggs and sperm are placed together in a dish with a nutrient fluid, then incubated overnight to fertilize normally. If the sperm functionality is suboptimal, an embryologist uses Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection to inject a single sperm into a single egg with an extremely precise glass needle. Once fertilization is complete, the embryos are assessed and prepared to be transferred to the patient’s uterus.
How are the embryos transferred back to the uterus?
The doctor and the patient will discuss the number of embryos to be transferred. The number of successfully fertilized eggs usually determines the number of eggs to be placed in the uterus. Embryos are transferred to the uterus with transabdominal ultrasound guidance. This process does not require anesthesia, but it can cause minor cervical or uterine discomfort. Following transfer, the patient is advised to take at least one days bed rest and two or three additional days of rest, then 10 to 12 days later, two pregnancy tests are scheduled to confirm success. Once two positive tests are completed, an obstetrical ultrasound is ordered to show the sac, fetal pole, yolk sac and fetal heart rate.
Embryoscope©
Built into this technology there is a microscope with a powerful camera that allows the uninterrupted monitoring of the embryo during its first hours of life. In this way, we can keep a close eye on the embryo, from the moment when the oocyte is inseminated and begins to divide into smaller and smaller cells, until it can be transferred to the uterus.
