Hospital Development &
Investment
With access to larger healthcare budgets, the GCC countries have embarked on a number of ambitious healthcare infrastructure building programs to satisfy the growing demand for healthcare services. McKinsey & Co. estimate that by 2025 the demand for hospital beds in the GCC region will at least double, with Saudi Arabia and UAE registering the greatest increase. According to a report by research firm Colliers International, the UAE alone will need an additional 5,188 beds by 2020.
The gradual improvement of healthcare infrastructure and standards in the GCC along with increasing insurance penetration should see an increase in number of patients opting for treatments locally, thus seeing an increase in demand for hospital beds.
