MedicalTourism Romania

Romania Medical Tourism Fame

Although not at all known as a medical tourism destination, Romania actually has provided for decades various natural therapies (mineral and thermal water baths, asthma therapy in natural salt caves, mud therapy) to foreigners either coming for treatment or on a holiday.

For the last decades, the medical sector has had a steady development, therefore, privately owned hospitals and clinics are offering a wide range of medical services, treatments and surgeries, for locals and for many foreigners that consider Romania, as the suitable location for solving their medical issues at a convenient price while the care and medical performance is one of the highest ranked in view of quality.

Procedures such as cosmetic surgery cost a fraction of most European prices. It's an excellent location to consider for affordable plastic surgery, dental, wellness and spa treatments.

The official Language of Romania is Romanian. There are minority groups speaking Hungarian and German.

The climate is temperate-continental with hot, dry summers, punctuated by thunderstorms and showers, and cold winters with frequent snowfall, especially in the high mountains. Spring season is pleasant with cool mornings and nights along with warm days. During the summer the temperature is quite warm, with extended sunny days. The hottest areas in summer are the lowlands in southern and eastern Romania where 100 F is often reached in July and August. Temperatures are always cooler in the mountains.

Autumn is dry and cool, with fields and trees producing colorful foliage, much like New England. Winters can be cold, especially in the mountains. While not the rule, abundant snowfalls may occur throughout the country, from December to mid-March.

The Capital, Bucharest, called during 19 and 20th centuries The Little Paris, is one of the cosmopolitan cities in Europe. The architecture of old palaces and grand villas, the cultural heritage, many museums some of them being considered by connoisseurs as one of their kind, lovely public gardens, The Bucharest Stock Exchange, The Exhibition Palace, The World Trade Plaza, modern office buildings, has become in time the place where the old meets the new, the architecture blending successfully with the urban office buildings. The capital city of Romania is also the most important communications center in the country: the main departure point for 9 international cities by rail and 8 by motorway, serviced by two airports at Otopeni and Baneasa.

When it comes to nightlife, Bucharest offers various and attractive ways of entertainment within all kinds of clubs, pubs, bars, discotheques, night clubs, and 35 luxurious casinos. These are opened until late in the night, the majority until morning.

During the day and preferably in spring-summertime, one can walk on the narrow streets of the old city center, admiring the old architectural style of the buildings, the narrow and deep yards decorated with vine and old trees.
    Black Sea

Romanian Black Sea coast with 245 km length is divided into two sectors: the northern one (Danube Delta) and the southern one which is mostly preferred by tourists because of the many beautiful resorts.

Mamaia, the oldest and largest resort situated on the Black Sea coast near the Siutghiol Lake ,with a 300 m wide beach of fine sand, is completed by other Black sea resorts, such Neptune, Olimp, Venus, Jupiter, Costinesti, Saturn, Eforie Nord and Sud, all in continuous development. The attractions for young people, consisting in bars, restaurants, aquatic parks, clubs, disco-clubs and many more, are not o be neglected either.

A wild land – the Danube Delta is shaped by The Danube as it flows in to the Black Sea. Together with the seaside plain, where we find the Razim Lagoon Complex, the delta has a surface of 5,240 Km2, containing a network of channels, lakes, islands, forests and sand dunes.

The delta is one of the most attractive and valuable region in the country, as well considered a paradise of fauna. Also, there are over 300 species of birds and the area boasts the biggest colony of pelicans in Europe. There are over 150 species of fish (carpet, pike, perch, sheat-fish, sturgeon – famous for their black spawns) and this made UNESCO declare the Danube Delta “a reservation of the biosphere” (RBDD).

Romanian balneary and climatic resorts: Romania has important mineral water and thermal resources (almost 70% of the balnear potential of Europe), one of which has unique characteristics. The use of these waters in the balnear treatment began in Roman times when the waters’ special therapeutic effects from Herculane and Geoagiu were recognized. The balnear tourism developed over time with balneoclimateric resorts in which are thermal and mineral waters, therapeutic mud and salt caves. In the newer resorts, you will find beauty centers, fitness, sauna and relaxing massages. There are also other balneoclimateric resorts situated in mountain or plain regions with spectacular landscapes where you can enjoy long and invigorating walks.

Once arrived here, you will find various shopping possibilities, from boutiques with traditional merchandise, universal shops, and modern malls to luxurious and exquisite concept stores, downtown located or at the edges of the town.
